Capturing Cole and her band (guitarist Saul Rubin, saxophonist and clarinet player Dan Block, bassist Pat O’Leary, and drummer Phil Stewart) live using a single hi-res microphone, A Kiss In The Dark found the velour-voiced singer taking a deep dive into ancient jazz history by putting a contemporary spin on songs mainly from the late 1910s and early 1920s.
