VARIOUS – REBIRTH OF "TBM" (THE JAPANESE DEEP JAZZ) (2LP)
- Essential compilation spotlighting the legendary Japanese label Three Blind Mice
- Includes tracks by Isao Suzuki, Masaru Imada, Teruo Nakamura, Ayako Hosokawa and more
Rebirth Of "TBM" celebrates the pioneering legacy of Three Blind Mice, the iconic Japanese jazz label that revitalized the country's scene during the 1970s and 1980s. Founded by Takeshi Fujii with the ambition of becoming the "Blue Note of Japan", TBM was committed to documenting new talents like Tsuyoshi Yamamoto and Isao Suzuki in uncompromising sound quality and style. This double LP compilation, curated by DJ and producer Tatsuo Sunaga, selects fiery, groove-driven, and exploratory works that embody the label's bold spirit.
From post-bop burners and jazz-funk workouts to freeform expressions and big band arrangements, the album highlights a crucial era of “Wa Jazz”—Japanese jazz that has since gained worldwide acclaim. With detailed liner notes and remastered audio, Rebirth Of "TBM" serves both as a tribute and a fresh entry point to one of jazz’s most important underground archives.
