Description
The sublime reflection of a human being facing the end of life and what comes afterwards, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, K. 626 (for solo voices, choir and orchestra) reaches beyond the realm of music to attain universal resonance. Raphaël Pichon’s interpretation of this testamentary work, nurtured by a seminal experience with stage director Romeo Castellucci and punctuated by earlier sacred pieces of Mozart, is overwhelmingly moving.
This double Vinyl LP features Pygmalion, a choir and a period-instrument orchestra which Pichon founded in 2006, the version of the Requiem completed by Franz Xaver Süssmayer (1766 – 1803), Ying Fang (soprano), Beth Taylor (alto), Laurence Kilsby (tenor), Alex Rosen (bass) and Chadi Lazreq (treble)
