The highly acclaimed album 『TROPICAL DANDY』, released by Haruomi Hosono in 1975, is set for a long-awaited vinyl reissue to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The album will be released on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, which is the exact 50th anniversary of its original release date.
Two years after his first solo album, 『HOSONO HOUSE』(1973), this second solo work marks a pivotal period when Hosono shifted towards a freer, more exotic, and multinational sound. Overflowing with a tropical sensibility and hybridity, this is a crucial work that captures the moment Japanese pop music connected with the global music map.
This precious reissue, which finally allows listeners to once again experience the turning point in Haruomi Hosono's musical adventure—one that led to the "Tropical Trilogy" and eventually to the formation of YMO—has finally been realized.
The Japanese domestic edition will be released by KAKUBARHYTHM / medium. The US edition, which will be the first official international reissue of the album, will be released by Stones Throw Records in LA, with release details to be announced soon.
Haruomi Hosono continues to captivate listeners worldwide. This album, which heralded the beginning of the journey known as the "Tropical Trilogy," will now reach the ears of a new generation.
細野晴臣が1975年に発表した名盤『TROPICAL DANDY』が、50周年を記念して待望のアナログ盤リイシューが決定。オリジナルのリリースからちょうど50周年の記念日となる2025年6月25日（水）にリリースとなります。
ソロ1作目『HOSONO HOUSE』(1973)から2年を経て、より自由に、エキゾチックかつ多国籍なサウンドへと舵を切った時代の記録であり、トロピカルな感覚と雑種性に満ちたソロ２作目となる本作は、日本のポップスが世界の音楽地図に接続した瞬間を刻む重要作である。
“トロピカル三部作”～YMO結成にもつながる、細野晴臣の音楽的冒険の転換点を、今ふたたび体感できる貴重なリイシューがついに実現。
国内盤はカクバリズム/ミディアムからのリリース。海外では初の公式リイシューとなるUS盤はLAのStones Throw Recordsからのリリースとなり、近日リリース情報を案内予定です。
