'The Best of Miles Davis' celebrates the centenary of the birth of the cultural icon, composer and trumpeter Miles Davis through Craft / Concord.
This album is conceived as an introduction to the maestro's first stage for Prestige and its eight tracks ('Round Midnight', 'Just Squeeze Me (But Don't Tease Me)', 'My Funny Valentine',…) are taken from the albums Workin', Cookin', Steamin' and Relaxin' released between 1956 and 1961 after the spectacular impact of his performance at the Newport Jazz Festival of '55 which allowed the formation of his legendary quintet surrounded by Red Garland, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones and John Coltrane.
