This album represents one ideal that Seiichi Nakamura ultimately arrived at. His saxophone, soaring freely like a bird, liberates the listener and leads them into a new world.
During his time with the Yosuke Yamashita Trio, he devoted his entire being to every single note. In the early 1970s, he powerfully wove flashes of inspiration and impulse into his melodies. With this work, Nakamura undergoes yet another transformation. As he himself described it: “Sharing a space together, flying freely like birds—that’s the ideal.” Layers of sound and the use of silence expand the musical space richly, within which his saxophone moves vividly and freely.
Inspired by writer Kazumasa Hirai’s Wolf Guy series, the album features the expansive and refreshing “Wolf’s Theme,” the nostalgic and gently grooving “Harappa,” and beautifully rendered standards such as “Body & Soul” and “I Can’t Get Started.” Tracks like “Viva Giappone” radiate both dynamism and a sense of openness—altogether embodying Nakamura’s artistic ideal.
Featuring contributions from Toshiyuki Daitoku, Aki Takase, and Ryojiro Furusawa.
