RYO FUKUI Born in Biratori-cho in 1948. Started playing the accordion at age 18 and the piano at age 22. Since releasing his first album, "Scenery," in 1976, he has released four albums. He has captivated many fans with his beautiful original melodies and powerful, swinging be-bop style performances. He currently performs nationwide, based at the Sapporo live house "Slow Boat." In 2012, he was the first jazz pianist to receive the Sapporo Cultural Encouragement Award. He passed away on March 15, 2016.
