Jan Lisiecki presents both etude cycles by Frederik Chopin, Op. 10 and Op. 25. Lisiecki has been familiar with both cycles since his childhood: "I could play these pieces in the middle of the night and I felt extremely comfortable with them – every note has its place," he says. But he is not only concerned with technical perfection in his interpretation; musicality is just as important to him. That's why Lisiecki loves to quote Chopin's instructions to his students: "Really every note must sing; and yet with all the effort, simplicity must be the highest goal – because for Chopin this is the greatest gift of art. These two remarks reflect the very essence of his music – pure beauty. And that is why I love Chopin's works".
