The ORB Audio – DF-01iA+ Record Flattener is designed to restore your warped vinyl records to their original flat shape, improving sound quality and preventing damage to your valuable collection.
The latest DF-01iA+ model offers enhanced compatibility and ease of use:
- Supports all standard record sizes: It can now flatten 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch vinyl records.
- Handles “flat records”: Unlike previous models, the DF-01iA+ can flatten records that don’t have the raised “groove guard” edges. While most records have these raised edges, this new feature ensures broader compatibility.
- Includes convenient adapters: The DF-01iA+ comes with adapters that make it easier to correctly position your 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch records on the flattener. For most users, these adapters are a helpful addition, though not strictly necessary.
The ORB Audio – DF-01iA+ Record Flattener uses a unique heating technique which is applied with two semiconductor heater films, one on the top and one on the bottom. By thermally controlling the heating-up phase and cooling-down phase, the warped record is allowed to properly relax and return to its original flat state.
The machine heats only the outer edge and center of the record. The grooves are not heated and therefore their sonic shape is preserved. The entire process takes four hours; two to heat up and two to cool down.
