The album's introspective, profound lyrics and sophisticated arrangements were highly praised, leading to its debut at number one on the US charts. This album won the Best Alternative Music Album award at the 56th Grammy Awards and is known as a masterpiece that opened up new horizons for Vampire Weekend's pop music, featuring signature songs such as "Step," "Diane Young," and "Unbelievers," which propelled them to the pinnacle of the global rock scene.
