As the title implies, the sequel to Time Out [MOVLP038], Time Further Out (1961) indeed expands on the highly successful album that helped Brubeck gain stardom.
Time Further Out yielded mesmerizing songs like "It's A Raggy Waltz" (3/4 timing), "Unsquare Dance" (in a 7/4 timing) and "Bluette", a laidback, open-till-late jazz club tune. The recordings sound fresh, easy-going and inventive at the same time. The use of weird time signatures are never without function: they keep the music interesting each time you listen to it.
Respect is due to the excellent musicianship of altoist Paul Desmond, bassist Eugene Wright, drummer Joe Morello and of course the maitre himself, pianist Dave Brubeck.
