Grammy and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson returns with Chemistry

Since the dissolution of her marriage to Brandon Blackstock in 2022, Grammy-winning global superstar Kelly Clarkson has been processing a lot. The original American Idol winner has a new album, Chemistry, due out June 23, 2023 that breaks down so many of the emotions she's experienced and lessons she's learned following her divorce. On her most personal album to date, these songs explore the arc of a relationship.

About the album, Kelly says "having chemistry with someone is an incredible, and overwhelming, feeling. It's like you have no choice in the matter. You are just drawn to each other. This can be good and bad. This album takes you down every path that chemistry could lead you down."

"I've been working on this project for close to three years now. I wasn't sure I was going to release it, but I am," she revealed via Instagram. "I was trying to find a word, it might be one of the songs on the album, but I was trying to find a word that really described the whole thing. I didn't want everybody to think I was just coming out with some ‘I'm angry,' ‘I'm sad' — just one or two emotions.

"This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship. That whole relationship shouldn't be brought down to one thing. There's the good, the bad and the ugly kind of thing going on. Chemistry can be a really amazing, sexy, cool, fun thing, but it can also be very bad for you. So that's why I named it Chemistry, I thought it was the perfect title to describe the entire album."
