Historic Concert Recording in Wales with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra!
Remastered Audio in a 2LP Box Set!
Includes 100-Page Book & Poster!
A truly historic concert, filmed and recorded in Llangollen, North Wales, released on audio for the very first time.
The concert marked 40 years since Pavarotti and his fellow choir members from Modena won First Prize in the Choral Competition at the International Eisteddfod in 1955.
Seventy-five minutes of remastered musical glory – a programme overflowing with operatic arias from Cavalleria Rusticana, Il trovatore, Macbeth, Manon Lescaut and La traviata, and popular Neapolitan song.
Also features two tracks, recorded in 1955, thought to be the earliest recordings with Luciano Pavarotti – "Bonjour mon coeur" (Lassus) and "In Nomine" (J Handl) – plus a special audio interview with Pavarotti recalling his choir's competition win.
Recorded with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Leone Magiera; the Corale Rossini, and soprano Atzuko Kawahara
Features a 100-page LP-sized book, detailing the history of the concert, interviews with those who were there; precious and rare historic photos from the Llangollen archive; a newly commissioned biography of Pavarotti; a reproduction of the original concert programme; a specially commissioned history of the Llangollen Eisteddfod; and more.
Plus – a unique A4 concert poster in each box.
All texts in English, German and Welsh.
