Description
In 1985, the miraculous French pianist Michel Petrucciani signed with a newly relaunched Blue Note Records and recorded his label debut Pianism, an album that underscored the arrival a distinctive new talent. His second Blue Note release, Power Of Three, presented Petrucciani in a duo with guitarist Jim Hall and a trio that added saxophonist Wayne Shorter. Recorded live at the 1986 Montreux Jazz Festival, the album captured a magical evening of music-making by three virtuosos. The five-song LP features the trio on a trio of originals — Shorter's "Limbo," Petrucciani's "Morning Blues," and Hall's "Bimini" — while the duo is heard on Hall's "Careful" and a stunning version of Ellington's "In A Sentimental Mood."
This stereo Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Record Technology Inc. (RTI), and packaged in a deluxe tip-on jacket.
